IndictBushNow Freedom of Information Act Request: Did Bush and Cheney order torture to justify Iraq war?
Dick Cheney can lie, but he will not be able to hide from the truth.

| IndictBushNow.org is joining with the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund and the ANSWER Coalition to demand that the truth be told. We have filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the CIA, Department of Defense, Department of State and other agencies to reveal information in their possession about al-Libi’s imprisonment, torture, coerced false statements on Iraq and the circumstances of his death. To help support this effort, click here. | | | With your help, IndictBushNow.org - working with attorneys from the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund - are exposing this central fact: The barbaric torture inflicted on prisoners by the Bush-Cheney interrogation teams was not to "protect the country from attack" but rather to fabricate the false rationale for the invasion of Iraq.
Please make an urgently needed donation now to help support the movement for the prosecution of Bush, Cheney and other officials.
"The central defense put forth by Cheney is that the Bush administration's torture regime protected the country from terrorist attack. But the fact is that torture was used for the personal political goals of Bush and Cheney: namely, to sell their Iraq invasion to a very skeptical and disbelieving country," stated Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, attorney and co-founder of the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund (PCJF).
The PCJF filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on behalf of itself, IndictBushNow.org and the ANSWER Coalition demanding information regarding the detention, torture and death of Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi. We are seeking expedited release of this information. Under conditions of extreme torture, al-Libi agreed in 2002 to supply the Bush-ordered interrogators what they sought as a political cover for Bush's marketing of the pending war of aggression against Iraq. (To read the actual FOIA, click here.)
Yesterday, Cheney went on national television to complain about the threats from criminal prosecution for Bush-era officials. He and the Bush gang have every reason to be worried.
Al-Libi's tortured and knowingly fabricated testimony was the source of information used by Bush to sell the war to the U.S. Senate, and the source for Colin Powell's bogus and lying presentation to the United Nations in 2003. What were the questions put to him under torture?
With your continued support, we are building a truly massive case for prosecution. The Constitution requires nothing less. Please make an urgently needed donation right now so that we can continue to build this nationwide campaign with demonstrations, rallies, newspaper ads and a nationwide lobbying effort.
This information about al-Libi's imprisonment and questioning under torture must be revealed and the FOIA demand we have issued will do just that. The dueling press conferences and the debate erupting among the political leadership from the current and prior administrations makes the relevance of this information central to addressing once and for all the criminality of Bush's and Cheney's torture program.
